    BANNED BOOKS WEEK
Here it is, Wednesday already, and I haven't even let you know about Banned Books Week! BBW is a week at the end of September set aside to celebrate your right to read. Observed since 1982, this yearly event reminds us not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted. So... I have a list posted in the YA area of some authors and titles that are frequently challenged and sometimes banned. They include: Judy Blume, Robert Cormier, the Alice series by Naylor, the Harry Potter series, The Giver by Lowry, To Kill a Mockingbird by Lee, The Outsiders by Hinton, and so many more! Be sure to come down to the library to see the list and check out one of the books that some people try to remove from the shelves of the libraries -- celebrate your freedom to read! It's BBW!
