Thursday, May 19, 2005GUYS READ & MOVIES FOR GIRLS
OK, so we got two fun nonfiction books today that I think we all need to know about. First, let me make mention of the Ultimate Girls' Movie Survival Guide: what to rent, who to watch, how to deal. I briefly flipped through this at today's Biblionix meeting at the high school, but didn't get to make much note of it, since the students were rather intrigued by it.
Next, Guys Write for Guys Read. Maybe you've heard of Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith -- they're the fellows who wrote The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales and other fine stories such as that. Well, they've launched a website for guys -- to read! And from this website, they've garnered a selection of short stories, mini-memoirs, advice, poems, and drawings -- by some of the best and favourite guy authors: MT Anderson, Edward Bloor, Eoin Colfer, Matt Groening, Neil Gaiman, Christopher Paolini, Darren Shan, Will Hobbs, Anthony Horowitz, and so many more. Short 2-3 page selections from the best! Try it!
And what did you think of the Star Wars 3? I haven't seen it yet, but I know some guys who made a mad dash for the last two tics last night and are seeing it again tonight.
That's it folks. The sun is still shining through the library windows, and we're thankful for that; there's been so little of it lately. Have a great night and refer all your friends to the blog!
